Mechanical Design and Precision Machining
To enhance our mechanical capabilities, NTA staffs a fully self-sufficient CNC machining facility. This allows our mechanical team to have greater control of our design implementations, interface directly with the CNC machinists, and deliver quality products to our customers. Our CNC machining facility is located in Huntsville, AL and is equipped with all-new high-precision CNC machines that allow us to hold the tight tolerances that today’s missile systems require. We specialize in low-volume, tight-tolerance, billet aluminum and stainless steel aerospace parts, but have the skills necessary to adapt to any configuration and/or material our customers may need.
NTA has a full Mechanical Design Team that works within many of the different technology groups of the company, providing support to our customers including requirements generation, full product design, CAD modeling, detailed drawing production, FEA analysis, manufacturing studies, and general research and development. We have extensive design experience with a variety of Army platforms including GMLRS, Hellfire, LowER-AD, JAGM, ERG, TCG, MMT, AATACMS, TOW, Javelin, and many more, developing new subsystems onto these platforms as well as improving old ones.
Areas of Expertise
Our mechanical engineers can assist customers in developing missile and launcher system requirements based on our experience and expertise learned thru past projects.
The mechanical design services NTA provides range from concept design thru detailed engineering, analysis, and prototyping. Specializing in military missile systems, we design everything from flight components to environmental and equipment test setups and fixturing. NTA’s design team emphasizes providing a complete package solution, taking a customer’s raw requirements to a working physical prototype in a short time frame. Our mechanical design team transforms requirements into concepts; concepts into models and 3D printed prototypes; and models and prototypes into full drawing packages and machined units.
NTA utilizes tools such as Abaqus and Solidworks to aid with the finite element modeling, design, and analysis of mechanical parts and assemblies, to include stress/strain analysis, failure analysis, modal analysis, and thermal analysis.
