NTA developed form-factor embedded hardware and software for operation within the Small Organic Precision Munition (SOPM) testbed. The SOPM system requirements dictated size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints for the embedded hardware while algorithmic performance requirements dictated processing requirements. NTA analyzed multiple computer architectures for SWaP and computational performance considerations. Based on the analyses and benchmark results, NTA developed a single-board embedded solution that met all system requirements. NTA completed circuit schematic design, PWB layout, PWB fabrication, and assembly. NTA also developed software needed for initial verification and validation of the embedded hardware and for integrating the embedded electronics into the SOPM testbed.
Additional hardware test boards were developed in conjunction with the SOPM hardware to aid in design verification/validation and system integration within the SOPM testbed. These test assets enabled data collection during hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing, and in-system programmability of the SOPM hardware while installed in the SOPM testbed. NTA’s SOPM embedded solution flew in multiple SOPM test flights. NTA further supported an analysis of the Critical Program Information (CPI) related to SOPM algorithms and assisted an analysis of anti-tamper capabilities hosted specifically on the SOPM hardware.
