NTA has supported GMLRS since the first Advanced Technology Demonstration program that initiated the concept in the late 1990s. In support of GMLRS, NTA monitors the activities of the prime contractor, Lockheed Martin; develops and maintains AvMC’s GIFSim all-digital and HWIL simulation; and develops and maintains the GMLRS rocket software. Simulation models of rocket components and environments are refined as required. For flight tests, NTA generates pre-flight predictions using HWIL simulations; analyzes rocket telemetry data on-site before and during flight; compiles and analyzes flight data collected from multiple sources during and after the flight and publishes the results; uses the simulation to reconstruct each rocket’s flight; and uses our expertise in simulation and guidance and control to analyze any anomalies that may occur. NTA manages the GMLRS simulation source code using industry-accepted configuration management applications. NTA participates on the Configuration Management Committee for GIFSim, which controls simulation updates through use of bug-tracking applications and formal configuration management procedures.
